Thursday 18th April 2019 - Preparing for Pattaya

In my mind, which can be a very fuzzy place at times, today is the day before we go to Pattaya.
I've not wanted to go to Pattaya, ever, that I can remember.
It has nothing that I am interested in, e.g. bars, bar girls/boys/3rd genders for any longer than a few fleeting moments or that I can't see on a Youtube clip, but I am travelling with others.
Both Lee and Tiz wanted to go and take look at Pattaya, and we will.

Other than that it is difficult to give today a more specific title.

We headed down to the beach for a walk and this is what we saw that was of any note, if any.

Looking north from beach end of Narathip Rd. Quiet.

Looking south from beach end of Narathip Rd. More quiet.

Walking south showed that the crowds had well and truly gone.

Our friend, Felicia, had asked us to take some "weird loads on bikes" pics
and this one sort of fits the request.
It doesn't have a load but it does have 6'x4' cage trailer,
which I'm sure gets big and odd loads on it.
Bare in mind that the scooter pulling it is a 110cc.
They work these little bikes hard.

Although not on a scooter, this was an interesting load.
There is a lot wooden furniture made of really nice hardwoods,
which is then coated in what looks like a urethane type lacquer around this area.
This ute was loaded with some fine examples.

More Thai style "Uber Eats" at the southern end of the beach.

You can see how empty the beach is in this shot.

Even more so in this one. This is out the front of the Grand Pacific Sovereign.
Strangely, the locals don't prefer sitting on this patch.
They would rather rent a stretcher under the umbrellas.

We went and did some shopping for dinner and snacks.
The receipt is  below and adds up to ~AUD 27. Chicken not included, which was costs ~ AUD 3/kg

Some things are cheap, enough green curry paste for ten 4 person meals for ~AUD 1.50,
and other stuff, a small block of good tasty cheese is ~AUD 40/kg, not so much.

We also bought a 12 pack of pork rind snacks.
They were ~AUD 0.70 each and a great accompaniment to a big can of Chang beer whilst sitting down to watch some shows.

Late night we had a bit of a Whatsapp conversation with Mat, our housesitter and all round good bloke, and during the exchange I asked about the parsley in the garden. When we left if was sprouting and we had had enough for a few garnishes, but my aim has been to grow a "forest" like Lidia, Tiz's mum and yardstick for growing anything in a garden.

This is the pic he sent.
The parsley is well on its way and the chilli plants, top and bottom of pic, look mighty healthy too.
I'm chuffed, and thanks for your efforts in looking after our little garden Mat.
👍👍👍

Tiz cooked up a great curry for dinner, which was utterly delicious but not really blog pictures material.

We saw the night out by watching a movie called "The Professor and the Madman". with Sean Penn and Mel Gibson. It's about the story of the Oxford Dictionary and a good watch, in my opinion.

Take care, and we hope to see you here tomorrow.
