That held for a very short while as it got hotter quite quickly and as of midday it is 37℃ with a "Feels Like" of 47℃! Thus the title of todays blog.
We got our morning walk in nice and early and here are some of the things we saw -
This is the old ute we saw the other night as we ate at "Leo's".
It turns out that it is a water truck that fills the tanks the various vendors use to keep live seafood during the day with sea water.
It must be the most knackered, cobbled together work vehicle I have ever seen.
I don't think it is registered and it's amazing they allow it on the street.
Woohoo! A tyre swing down at the beach, which I couldn't resist.
A couple of locals picking young coconuts
If you need to go to the toilet then you will need to pay for the service.
It's 5 baht for the use of a toilet, but you need to bring your own paper, and 10 baht for a shower.
It doesn't matter where you are or how big your bike is there is always a "need" to mod it.
This little unit had a Brembo front brake caliper, YSS rear shocks, a lot of anodised small parts and who knows what else.
This is a truck that had the rear bed converted into two full length bench seats and a stainless steel cage and canopy. you can get a lot of family or paying clients into the back of one of these.
It also had a lot of embellishments like these helmeted Michelin men.
It also seemed to have an identity crisis - Nissan or Isuzu?
We also did a bit of shopping.
Today the exchange rate is AUD 1 = THB 22.75
If there's one constant in my life long experience of currency exchange it's -
the harder I try the more I get it wrong.
Sometimes by a lot and sometimes by a little, but I always get it wrong.
By midday it was showing 36℃
Our friend Lee arrived mid afternoon and we decided to go to Aroy,
a local restaurant full of curios and very popular with both locals and farangs, for a meal
Drinks first though
Grandfather clocks everywhere
Pork and basil, with rice, of course
Spicy fish, with an emphasis on the spicy
The bill added up to ~AUD 40 which, for 3 people and including drinks,
is pretty cheap by our standards.
A couple of things to note though - it was very spicy and you could see it from the variety and amount of chilis in both dishes.
The way they lay out the bill is interesting
We were in the pool at home by 8!
Farvel til i morgen.
